Assessment is an essential part of the speech and language therapy process, it allows the Speech and Language Therapist to gather information about your child’s strengths and needs. We look at assessment using a dynamic approach: examining your child's current communication profile, as well as their learning potential.

Following assessment, the decision to carry out therapy will be discussed with your Speech and Language Therapist.
We provide a highly individualised therapy approach; working with your child's strengths and motivators in order to create change. All therapy goals are individualised and therapy tailored to your child's current needs. We believe that therapy should be both fun and highly engaging for your child. Play is an essential part of the therapy process and a highly powerful tool in communication development.
The duration and frequency of therapy will be tailored to your child's current profile and discussed in detail with your Speech and Language Therapist. This will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure the most appropriate support is provided.
The Speech and Language Therapist will provide evidence based therapy, essential to further building on your child's communication development. We really value the importance of parents/ carers in the therapy process - we aim to empower parents/ carers by providing ongoing coaching and support, to allow them to further embed the therapy practice and recommendations into day to day family life.

We offer tailor made packages of support to educational settings within Essex.
Support can be provided in a number of ways in order to meet the current needs of the educational settings. Our Speech and Language Therapists have extensive experience working within school/ nursery settings and are highly skilled in collaborating with educational staff.

Following assessment and/ or therapy we provide high quality reports in order to accurately document your child's current communication profile; examining their strengths and needs and providing recommendations and next steps.
Reports are written following initial assessment and on request of parents/ carers during the therapy process.
We strongly advise that reports are distributed to all involved in your child's care.
Assessment to include time spent with your child in the home/ education setting, liaison with parents/ carers and formal report writing following such assessment.
A summary report explains the assessment findings and provides simple recommendations.
